ABOUT: - LOCOH literally stands for Local Communities Health Helpers. - LOCOH International is precisely a Nigerian healthcare charity organisation. - Its specific mandate is to provide quality basic healthcare services the most vulnerable people especially in IDP camps and hard-to-reach communities across Nigeria. - LOCOH is fully registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with registration number RC 1959048. - Its headquarters is in Makurdi. OUR VISION LOCOH envisions a healthy generation with high productivity through seamless access to quality healthcare to contribute effectively towards societal development. OUR MISSION We are determined to strengthen community systems and empower individuals, families, and communities with priority to the MOST vulnerable communities across the society to adopt the process of health service provision in their locality in a sustainable manner by addressing social determinants of health services accessibility, through multi-sectoral policy advocacy and action. OUR ACTIVITIES We carry out free medical outreaches in IDP camps, and rural communities using Primary Healthcare Centers as our annexes across the country. Our free outreach services include: 1. Medical consultations and counselling; 2. Screening for high blood pressure, diabetes, hepatitis B and C, malaria, HIV, urinary tract diseases, etc; 3. Surgical operations for cases like hernias, hydrocoeles, lumps, goiters, etc; 4. Health education on preventable diseases and healthy nutrition as well as sensitisation on other social determinants of health like water sanitation and hygiene, child abuse, domestic and gender based violence, etc; 5. Vocational skills acquisition training for youths and women.
