About

Climate Change Action is a Trust registered in Botswana with the following registration number TUHGB-000277-22. It has been founded on the principles of Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, and efforts to fight Climate Change, Environmental Rehabilitation, and conservation of natural resources. “Today humanity uses the equivalent of 1.75 Earths to provide the resources we use and absorb our waste, based on the 2022 edition of the National Footprint and Biocapacity Accounts. This means it now takes the Earth one year and eight months to regenerate what we use in a year”. https://www.footprintnetwork.org/our-work/ecological-footprint. The following climate change effects have been witnessed all over the world: • Floods • Droughts • Rising sea levels • Rising Temperatures • Melting glaciers • Changing rainfall patterns. These changes lead to loss of productive land, habits, life, both flora and fauna. Climate Change is caused mainly by human activity in the form of burning fossil fuel which produces heat trapping gases. This is called the Greenhouse effect, which in turn causes temperatures to rise under the atmosphere. In Africa, countries are not big emitters of greenhouse gases, but forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. It is estimated that 80% of the people in Africa uses firewood for cooking. They also use poles and shrubs for fencing. This has seen habitats for animals disappearing at a fast rate. Rainfall patterns have changed because of the disappearing forests. Rural communities are facing water shortages and firewood shortages. These villagers travel over 30 km to get these necessities, spending over 8 hours a day of their productive time.
