Change African Child International – CACI is an indigenous Ugandan voluntary NGO founded in 2012 and registered with the NGO Board File No. MIA/NB/2012/11/4765. CACI operates in Uganda with a vision of A Society where child rights are respected and all children living dignified lives. CACI exists to socially and economically empower families and communities to holistically address child rights. Since 2012 CACI has been caring out various interventions in addressing the plight of the OVCs, youth and women including refugees in Wakiso district and Kampala with the following Programs; 1. Skills Development Training Program, Courses in Hairdressing and Cosmetology, Tailoring, Fashion Design & Sweater Making, Cobbling / Shoe Production &Leather Products Works and crafts making, Computer Training. 2. Adult Literacy Training Program with particular emphasis on Reading, Writing and Counting; Learning of Luganda and English. 3. Entrepreneurship Training Progam addressing Cottage industries development at household and group levels among OVC Caregivers, the youth and the community at large. Beneficiaries gain skills in Basic Business Forecasting and Planning, Generating Cash Flow, running one’s trade as a business entity, Management of small scale businesses using minimum capital and small loans, Savings, Formation of small enterprise groups, Baking, Soap Making, Urban farming, knitting, Craft making, chalk making etc. 4. HIV/AIDS Program with main activities; (a) HIV/AIDS Prevention, (b) Voluntary Counseling and Testing, (c) Home based care and (d) Support through Home visits to families with People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWAs) and Orphans and Vulnerable Children [OVC’S] and Counseling. 5. Child development and sponsorship/support programs to vulnerable children that have not yet reached the age to be enrolled in the vocational skills center in mukono rural areas.
