Tusekwile Imiti Ikula Foundation (Cultivating Children's Potential) is a nonprofit organization that works tirelessly to breaking the cycle of poverty in rural communities through the provision of quality, equitable and inclusive education to the most vulnerable and marginalized children in rural areas. We do this by improving the lives of less privileged children through various activities that primarily covers the following: Providing access to quality, equitable and inclusive education for less privileged children and youths in rural communities. Raising awareness on important topics such as Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights. Improving the mental health and wellbeing of students. Here we have a SuperBetter club at the school the organization has built, the club operates through the help of the toolkit I co-authored, the toolkit is for educators, parents and caregivers and it focusses on social and emotional learning that helps children to develop self-awareness, developing a vocabulary to describe different feelings and emotions, and developing skills in identifying and discussing emotions as they relate to daily life. Through our club we have introduced children to the ‘seven helpers’ of the Super Better model which further introduces them to video game related ideas and vocabulary including: Epic Wins, Challenges, Power Ups, Quests, Allies, Battling Bad Guys, and adopting Heroic Identities. We have repurposed the seven helpers for our programme and linked the helpers to tackle real health challenges that affect children in our community. Additionally, we are providing opportunities for students to learn important life skills. Overall, Tusekwile Imiti Ikula Foundation is an incredible organization that provides critical support and education to those who need it most. With our help, children and youths from the Sansamwenje Community of Isoka District can overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.
